new calling!

For most of the summer I was feeling somewhat unsettled and knew something different was headed my way. I couldn't seem to commit to anything at the new schools, unsure of what the future held.  When the ward boundaries re-aligned in August I received my answer, and much to my excitement and surprise I was called to work in the Young Women's again as Secretary!  It's been about 8 years and many of the programs have changed, but it's my absolute favorite place to be! We have 37 girls (about 25 active), so it is very busy, but very fun!

Our first 4 mutual activities were flag football practices and games.  We had record-setting rain here in Arizona, so our last game became a mud football game!  We weren't sure how the girls would react, but I've never seen them smile or laugh as much!  It's also awesome that we have a professional photographer on our YW board so we get great pictures at events!  Here's the before and after mud football pictures:

The following week was the complete opposite, our formal Evening in Excellence!
It's an absolute joy and honor to work alongside these seven amazing women.
These women and girls inspire me, make my laugh, and be a better person.  I am so blessed to be a part of them!

brandon's first temple visit!

Between monthly scout campouts and the temple being closed for two weeks, we finally made it to the temple with Brandon for his first visit!  He was a bit nervous, but it was a very sweet experience for both of us to be there with him and for Kevin to be the one baptizing and confirming him and doing family names.  We are so proud that he is worthy to enter the temple and look forward to many more visits at our temple that is so close!

we read the book of mormon again!

I don't write this to brag, it's only for our personal reference that we are keeping track of how many times our kids have read the Book of Mormon.  We finished the Book of Mormon for the second time tonight!  The first time it took us about 3 years.  This time it took us almost exact 2 years!  This time we read a page each day (obviously we missed a bunch of days!) and we spent some time discussing what we read.  It's so rewarding to see them soaking it in and remembering things and asking questions.
